Dear Student,

 

Welcome to A+Plus Driving School.  A+Plus Driving School’s driver education program consists of two phases of instruction: inside the classroom and hands on behind the wheel.

 

Program Objective:

 

We aim to help develop responsible traffic citizens who will be safe, competent and courteous drivers.  Along with being a safe driver will strive to teach the students how to be respectful passengers and pedestrians. Realization of this objective will result in fewer collisions, a decrease in property damage and personal injuries.  We also strive to reduce the number of deaths relating from the use of motor vehicles.

 

What are some of the advantages of taking the course?

 

Some of the advantages of successfully completing both the classroom and behind the wheel requirements are as follows:

·         You will receive well organized and competent instructions in this complex social, physical, and psychological skill.

·         Successful completion is mandatory for licensing if you are under 18 years of age.

·         Most insurance companies provide a reduction in the insurance premium rate for those who have successfully completed the course and meet their requirements (usually will need a B average in school).

 

What Does the Course Consist Of?

 

·         Traffic signs, signals, and roadway markings

·         Traffic law observances and enforcement.

·         Highway Transportation System (HTS).

o       The identification of HTS elements and clues.

·         Basic skills for automobile control.

·         Performance and capabilities of the automobile.

·         Basic automobile maneuvers.

·         A plan of action for driver decisions.

·         The effects of drinking, drugs, cell phone use (texing) and driving.

·         Driving conditions.

·         IPDE Process.

·         The Smith System.

 

 

A+ Plus Driving School objectives for driver education

 

1.      The ultimate objective of a driver’s education course is to provide educational experiences which will assist students in the knowledge, habits, skills, and most important of all, the attitudes necessary for safe motor vehicle operation.

2.      We also want to give students a better awareness of the relationship between the driver’s physical, psychological, and emotional characteristics, and his/her ability to operate the vehicle safely.

3.      To help students understand driver limitations, especially their own, so that they will approach traffic problems realistically and learn to compensate for any inefficiencies in which they may have.

4.      To train students to be on alert for the mistakes of other drivers, and the recklessness of pedestrians.

5.      To teach students safe motor functions.

6.      Help students develop the skills required for a safe and efficient driving under virtually all conditions.

 

 

To obtain an instruction permit at the “Secretary of State” office, you are required to:

 

1.      Be at least 15 years of age.

2.      Present a properly completed permit application form from an accredited driving school. (A parent/guardian and the instructor must sign application in order for it to be valid).

3.      The permit application will be issued in the first week of the classroom.

4.      Three (3) forms of identification:

a.      Present an original or certified copy of your Birth Certificate or a Valid Passport (Hospital birth certificates or photocopies of original birth certificates are NOT ACCEPTABLE.

b.      Social Security card (must be signed before you go to the Illinois Secretary of State).

c.      Provide proof of residency (a recent piece of postmarked mail with the students name on it).

5.      $20 for permit and licensing fee.  When you go to get your permanent driver’s license there will be no fee charged.

6.      After all above is satisfied you will be given a written and vision exams only. 

 

 

To obtain an instruction driver’s license at the “Secretary of State” office, you are required to:

 

1.      Complete a certified driver’s education program

2.      Be at least 16 years of age.

3.      Present your inst Three (3) forms of identification:

a.      Present an original or certified copy of your Birth Certificate or a Valid Passport (Hospital birth certificates or photocopies of original birth certificates are NOT ACCEPTABLE.

b.      Social Security card (must be signed before you go to the Illinois Secretary of State).

c.      Provide proof of residency (a recent piece of postmarked mail with the students name on it).

4.      Instruction permit that is at least 9 months (270 days old).

5.      Present your “Letter of Completion from the Illinois Secretary of State (Blue Slip).

6.      Present a properly filled out 50 hour log of your driving practice that is signed by a parent/guardian along with their driver’s license number.

7.      Present the vehicle’s registration and proof of insurance of the vehicle you are using to take the road test.

 

The complete classroom portion of the course will take approximately 4-5 weeks depending on the class you choose.  Our course meets or exceeds the Illinois Secretary of State’s requirements for obtaining a Letter of Completion (blue slip).

 

In-Car instruction will be given at student’s convenience.

 

Fee Includes the Following:

 

1.      Enrollment Fee

2.      Text books and study materials

3.      Home pick-up for behind the wheel

4.      Certification fees.

 

To enroll into a program, you may call our office Mon thru Thurs. 8 A.M. to 8 P.M., Fri 8 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Sat. 8 A.M. to 12 P.M. Classes generally start every month.

 

Payment Options:

 

Payment in full may be made on or before the day of class, to ensure proper processing of “Letter of Completion”.

Payment of $100.00 is required on the first night of class.   The student’s account must be paid in full by the last scheduled day of class to ensure proper processing of “Letter of Completion”.  If you are paying by credit card we ask the payment be made in full.
